Summary
Buck privates: Two sidewalk salesman enlist in the army in order to avoid jail, only to find that their drill instructor is the police officer who tried having them imprisoned.In the navy: Popular crooner Russ Raymond abandons his career at its peak and joins the Navy using his real name, Tommy Halstead. However, Dorothy Roberts, a reporter, discovers his identity and follows him in the hopes of photographing him and revealing his identity to the world.
Here come the waves: Show business twin sisters Rosemary and Susie, one serious and the other a scatterbrain, join the WAVES and both fall in love with crooner Johnny Cabot.
Hail the conquering hero: Woodrow is discharged from the military for hay fever, but fabricates receiving a heroic honorable discharge before returning home.
Caught in the draft: A movie star who can't stand loud noises accidentally joins the Army.
Francis joins the WACs: Peter Stirling (with his old friend the talking mule) is recalled to active duty...in the WACs!
The private war of Major Benson: As a disciplinary measure, the Army transfers a heavy-handed Major to a ROTC academy where he must shape-up cadets and improve the school's overall ratings.
The perfect furlough: The Armys top brass meet to discuss the morale problems occurring at an outpost in the remote Arctic. It seems that the 104 bachelors stationed there for the past seven months are going utterly stir crazy.
