Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "This newest addition to ALA's Readers' Advisory series joins previous titles on horror, mystery, romance, and young adult fare. The introduction acknowledges the explosion in graphic publishing, including titles on every possible topic, for every age group, spanning avant-garde experimentation through traditional retellings of classics. This vast array of choices should make it feasible to match up almost any reader with something suitable, so individual chapters address how to push graphic novels, how to transition readers to more sophisticated offerings and options, and how to encourage patrons to branch out into nonprint formats. The last two chapters list annotated, categorized graphic-novel selections sorted into genres and topics or themes. Appendixes offer a basic course in graphic literature and a glossary of terms. Numerous guides on creating and managing graphic-fiction collections exist; this accessible manual will make sure they get read.--McBroom, Kathleen Copyright 2010 Booklist"
