Summary

New York Times Bestseller!

The original Idol, Grammy Award-winning singing sensation Kelly Clarkson, makes her picture book debut with this enchanting story inspired by her own daughter, River Rose. The book comes complete with a link so you can listen to an original lullaby written and performed by Kelly herself.

It's a big day for River Rose--she's going to the zoo! But when she's too excited to fall asleep the night before, it takes a magical lullaby from Mom to send River Rose off on a dream adventure! Soon River Rose is hopscotching with the hippos, slip-sliding with the penguins, and dancing with the big brown bears. It's a rollicking, rhyming tale from America's most beloved performer, recording star Kelly Clarkson. Come along on this bedtime journey with an original lullaby that parents and kids are sure to love!

River Rose landed down in the center of the zoo.

And right around the corner came a bouncy kangaroo.

He was just about to ask if there was something he could do,

when River Rose jumped up and said, "We've come to play with you!"

And don't miss Kelly Clarkson's latest picture book, River Rose and the Magical Christmas!

Published Reviews
Publisher's Weekly Review: "Grammy-winning pop star and American Idol winner Clarkson makes her children's book debut with a by-the-numbers story about a girl's magical trip to the zoo. The night before her first-ever zoo visit, River Rose (named after and inspired by Clarkson's daughter) has trouble settling down for bedtime until her mother sings her a lullaby. In the middle of the night, River Rose discovers a cluster of magical balloons outside her bedroom window; they whisk her to a zoo where she meets and romps around with a variety of animals ("She turned on all the lights and sang, 'There's so much I want to see./ Lions, tiger, bears, oh my!... Let's have a zoo party!'") before returning home. Uneven rhythms and somewhat forced rhymes don't do much to distinguish Clarkson's verse, but Hughes's mixed-media artwork, featuring wispy pencil lines and exuberant scenes of animals at play, contributes to the festive mood of River Rose's journey. A downloadable version of Clarkson's lullaby will be made available online. Ages 4-8. Author's agency: CAA. Illustrator's agency: Bright Agency. (Oct.) © Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved."
