Booklist Review: "Each book in the Animals of the Rain Forest series begins with a dramatic narrative opener told in the present tense. This peek into the animal's life helps draw readers into the book, which continues with simple descriptions of the animal's looks, (sub)species, habitat, food, babies, and importance or future. Every spread predictably features a large photo, some text, and a side column listing interesting facts. The main text is generally well written, but the sidebar facts really bring it to life. Tigers informs readers that every tiger's pattern of stripes goes all the way from its skin through the outer layer of its fur. Young readers will enjoy learning these and other key animal facts from these books. Boldface terms appear throughout the text and are defined in a glossary, which is followed by additional resources and an index.
