Summary
Exploding from the pages of Guardians of the Galaxy! Peter Quill battles the Badoon, fights to save an orphanage, and still finds time to flirt with the X-Men's Kitty Pryde - all in a day's work for the legendary Star-Lord! But when Peter is captured by a bounty hunter with a strange connection to his past, can the two make amends before he's fed to a giant alien? Sharing a Badoon jail cell with a criminal and a child isn't exactly Peter's idea of a good time...luckily, he's got an ace named Kitty up his sleeve. But Star-Lord soon encounters the all-powerful Titan responsible for so much mayhem in his life: Thanos! It's the battle to end all battles, but can Star-Lord possibly get out alive?!

Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "Breaking off from his Guardians of the Galaxy team and setting out on his first solo adventure, Peter Quill, the legendary Star-Lord, is now fighting off bounty hunters and hit squads to hold onto a gem that has the ability to defeat the supervillain Thanos, with whom Star-Lord made an uneasy and regrettable truce. As Peter pinballs between adventures, the mysterious Mister Knife lurks in the shadows, looking for the crystal and willing to do anything to stop Star-Lord from using it. This first volume is extremely fast-paced, as the space cowboy evades multiple imprisonments and assassination attempts. With so much going on, there's little time to really develop new characters and reestablish old ones for the new fans, which is a definite drawback considering how popular the character has become recently. Despite the missed opportunity, the flow of the story a feel-good and outrageous ride filled with shoot-outs, cinematic visuals, daring escapes, and one-liners is spot-on. Star-Lord can certainly stand on his own.--Blenski, Peter Copyright 2015 Booklist"
