Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "In a world where athletes are glamorized for everything, this follow-up to Shapiro's The Stereotypical Freaks (2012) delivers a warts-and-all look at a professional athlete trying to buck the system. Tom Leonard is a college student on a hockey scholarship, and he idolizes legendary young hockey great Jeremiah Jacobson. Jeremiah is notorious for his infallible plays on the ice and his deeply fallible behavior in front of the camera, and after a chance meeting, Jeremiah invites the idealistic Tom into his world. But Tom is surprised that his hero is not all he is cracked up to be. Shapiro fills panels with exposition and context, maximizing clarity, and his message and goals are manifest to a wide range of readership. Inoue and Mossa's artwork is clean-lined and colorful, and, combined with the sports theme, makes this a good fit for reluctant readers. Fans of the first installment in Shapiro's Friends Forever series will be pleased by this sequel, and readers new to the trilogy hockey lovers in particular can jump right in here.--Spanner, Ben Copyright 2014 Booklist"
