Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "In its second edition, this guide to books for readers in grades six through nine lists approximately 15,000 titles, now including those published from 2004 through 2008. Titles were selected primarily on the basis of reviews in Booklist, School Library Journal, VOYA, and other review journals. Arrangement is first by subject or genre and then alphabetically by author. In addition to author and title, each listing contains reading level, publication data, a brief annotation, Dewey decimal classification number, and citations for reviews. New to this edition is a symbol indicating the availability of an audio version. Author, title, and subject and grade-level indexes complete the work. Barr and Gillespie are also the authors of Best Books for Children, now in its eighth edition (2005, with a supplement published in 2007), as well as Best Books for High School Readers, now in its second edition (2009). All of their Best Books titles are valuable collection-development tools for school and public libraries.--Quinn, Mary Ellen Copyright 2009 Booklist"
