Summary

This first publication in a new series of Bruno Monsaingeon music documentaries features German baritone Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. The nine films comprise Schumann and Schubert lieder recitals, several master classes, the documentary Autumn journey, a comprehensive retrospective on the singer's life and career and his long-standing collaboration with the director, and a newly produced film, Last words, featuring conversations between Monsaingeon and Fischer-Dieskau. The book, edited by Bettina Rettig, includes several scripts on Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, excerpts from conversations between Monsaingeon and the singer, song texts in German, and pictures from Fischer-Dieskau's private archives, with additional previously unpublished documents fom his concert and travel diaries and excerpts from his annotated orchestral scores. Also includes an eight-page guide to the set.
