Technically a prequel to All Things Great and Small and All Things Bright and Beautiful, this British miniseries dramatizes the early experiences of the author of those books, James Herriot. It focuses on Herriott (here played by Iain De Caestecker) during a period when he's a veterinary student in Glasgow, Scotland - pursuing a career that he's longed for since his early childhood years. Meanwhile, fascism spreads throughout Europe and England itself goes through tumultuous internal changes. The supporting cast also includes Gary Lewis and Amy Manson. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
