Summary

Toyman wants to play with Superman! In order to get the Man of Steel's attention, he attaches explosives to remote control cars and sends them across town. But instead of scorching Superman, Toyman gets Lois and Jimmy! Can Superman put Toyman in time-out before Metropolis's game is over?

Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "This latest Superman tale for beginning readers begins with a rather topical scenario: Winslow Scott, a toy maker, is run out of business by new-fangled digital devices. To get his revenge, he becomes the Toyman and unleashes a battalion of tiny remote-control cars to blow up buildings. Enter Supe, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen! Well, mostly Supe, illustrated by Smith to be roughly the size of a house, as he uses his superbreath to damp fires and superstrength to pull Jimmy from the rubble. Best of all is when the caped clod (as the Toyman calls him) corners the villain in his lair, only to be attacked by a platoon of perilous playthings. The book begins with a page of introductions to make things crystal clear, and there is never any doubting character motives or action choreography. This is good, old-fashioned, rock 'em, sock 'em fun, complete with your classic one-liners from Supe: Playtime is over! No doubt this will prep readers for longer, more serious comics.--Kraus, Daniel Copyright 2010 Booklist"
