Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "The famous franchise that collects the odd, sometimes interesting, and often just-plain-goofy goings-on of the world is behind this entry in Ripley's Remarkable and Unexpected series. Gone are the cartoons from the old installments they've been replaced by color pictures. Following the formula, most of the entries are cryptic paragraphs that often leave the reader asking, Why would someone do that? Longer full-page features highlight such oddities as an English collection (now disbursed) of taxidermied small animals, such as squirrels and mice, enjoying tea and playing cards. The picture of the angel made of ice is pure Ripley's, since to most readers it will look like, well, a big blob of ice. This is a browser's delight, however. The color photos are definitely an improvement over the comics the pit-spitting close-up would not have the same effect as a drawing. An index is included, although this is one nonfiction series that probably doesn't need it.--Morning, Todd Copyright 2010 Booklist"
