Summary
When a suicide bomber strikes in downtown San Francisco, it gets the immediate attention of the X-Men. But this is not your garden variety terrorist - and he's not acting alone. Vampires from around the globe are descending en masse on the City by the Bay, staking a brutal claim for the patch of land the X-Men call their home. Collecting: X-Men #1-6
Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "Edgar-nominated novelist Gischler (Gun Monkeys, 2003) puts Wolverine's claws to good use as the X-Men, working from their island base, Utopia, defend San Francisco from an onslaught of vampires led by Dracula's wayward son, Xarus, who has brought former mutant Jubilee into his fold and has hopes of creating a vampire-mutant coalition. Team-member Storm's previous relationship with Dracula creates a segue for the obvious marketing potential here, and Gischler, though not bringing anything particularly new to the interpretation of the heroes or the undead, does combine the elements effectively enough to appeal to a crossover readership by featuring loads of vampire-dismembering gore; a guest spot by Marvel's resident vampire hunter, Blade; and a climax that ends with an uneasy peace between the X-Men and the lord of the vampires himself. Medina's art helps things along considerably by balancing the speed and force of superhero action with the sinister atmospherics of vampire imagery.--Karp, Jess. Copyright 2010 Booklist"
