Summary

Kate and Alan own a successful Manhattan furniture story, reselling mid-century modern treasures purchased from the estates of the newly deceased. Wanting to enlarge and remodel the apartment they are living in with their teenage daughter, they have bought the unit neighboring their own. However, they must wait for that current tenant, Andra --a miserable, 91-year-old woman, to die. As Kate's family gets to know Andra and her granddaughters who look after her, animosity, infidelity, friendship, and empathy soon play out.
