Booklist Review: "According to this welcome title in the Girls' Health series, doctors now recommend that young women schedule their first gynecological visit between the ages of 13 and 15. This straightforward, reassuring title fills a necessary gap in books on the subject for young teens. Introductory chapters include a brief introduction to the physiology of women's reproduction and menstruation, but the majority of the book covers the specifics of a gynecological visit, from choosing a doctor and insurance concerns to what happens during a pelvic exam. The visuals, a mix of drawings and color photos, are weak; more anatomical pictures or more views of examining rooms would have better supported the text. But the accessible text is informative and supportive, and it targets the subjects sure to provoke the most anxiety in teens, such as confidentiality. A glossary, bibliography, and resource list close this topic-specific title that will partner well with more general books about young women's health and sexuality, such as Deal with It! by Esther Drill, Heather McDonald, and Rebecca Odes (1999).--Engberg, Gillian Copyright 2007 Booklist"
