Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "Part of the Space subseries within the larger True Books series, this offering sports the umbrella series' attractive new design, and it's also among the first books about Pluto to have been written from scratch (rather than revised from an earlier edition) after Pluto's downgrading to dwarf planet. Following an enticing pair of true-false statements, with answers promised to those who read on, the text succinctly explains how the discovery of space objects larger than Pluto led astronomers to develop new criteria for defining planets. Readers will also learn about the 2006 launch of a space probe, to reach Pluto in 2015. Landau's ample experience is clear in the thoughtful, linear way she develops the scientific ideas, as well as in the captions, which note possibly inaccurate elements in artists' renderings of places not yet caught on film. One oversight a map that calls Pluto the second dwarf planet from the sun without ever identifying the first one needs to be noted, but can't undermine the strengths of this timely, much needed title, which is capped with useful endmatter.--Mattson, Jennifer Copyright 2007 Booklist"
