Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "Gr. 2-4. This title in the Prehistoric World series, which introduces a different dinosaur in each volume, focuses on the plant-eating Iguanodon, distinctive for its massive thumb spikes. Each spread pairs a brief, large-print paragraph with a detailed color illustration of the dinosaur, a photo of a dinosaur diorama, or a graph. Schomp's lively language, suitable for reading aloud to precocious dino-geeks, covers the body structure, diet and habits, and theories of extinction; one spread introduces the position of continents during the Iguanodon's Cretaceous period. Younger readers may need help with some of the scientific information, including the appended dinosaur family tree, but the dynamic images and approachable text make this a good choice for both reports and personal reading for young nonfiction fans. Ankylosaurus,0 Velocirapto0 r, and Ornithomimus 0 are among the other dinosaurs introduced in the ongoing series. --Gillian Engberg Copyright 2006 Booklist"
