John Wayne won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Marshal Rooster Cogburn, a has-been hero who is hired to find a young girl's father's killer.
A drunken, uncouth, one-eyed, but gritty U.S. marshal, Rooster Cogburn (Wayne) is hired by a young girl to kill the man who murdered her father & stole the family nest egg. She insists on accompanying Cogburn on his quest. Cogburn isn't happy about this, nor with the Texas Ranger La Boeuf who also tags along.
