Summary
Here is a delightful way to introduce toddlers to the world of nature. Young children love to look at colorful flowers, prickly bushes, and furry creatures. Simple word labels identify each picture and help enrich vocabulary and develop reading skills. This book will bring the great outdoors indoors for the youngest naturalists. Full-color photos and illustrations.
Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "Ages 1-4. In this introduction to nature for young children, striking full-color photography and developmentally appropriate activities for the preschool child are presented in a stimulating picture-book format. Each single or double-page spread is devoted to a specific concept, such as "Shapes and Patterns" or "Color in Nature." Photographs, labeled in large black type, often include good descriptive words--slimy, bumpy, slitheringthat will be excellent for increasing a child's vocabulary. Three-and four-year-olds may be turned off by the unfortunate use of the term baby in the title, but activities such as counting, matching, and identifying parts of a whole will reinforce concepts they are learning in preschool and make the "reading experience" more enjoyable. --Lauren Peterson"
